Medical aesthetician treatments

Our nurses and medical aestheticians work closely with the doctors providing medically approved treatments.

The following treatments are provided:

ACNE CLEANSING FACIAL: Clears excess surface oil (sebum), removes blackheads, whiteheads and spots.

ACNE LIGHT THERAPY: Kills the bacteria that cause red acne spots.

Before Acne Light TherapyAfter Acne Light Therapy

Above: Acne of the lower face before and after eight light treatments

CHEMICAL PEELS: A variety of alpha and beta peels individually selected for your skin type using higher strength AHAs than are permitted in beauty salons. These loosen the outer layers of the skin, cleanse pores, improve skin complexion and texture, remove dead skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

PARTICLE RESURFACING: Using a fine spray of crystals to gently improve skin quality. This may be used by itself or as a combination treatment with creams and chemical peels to enhance appearance, minimise scars or fine lines, reduce acne and give a more even appearance to skin colour and texture.

'The benefits of microdermabrasion seem to depend on how aggressively the skin-exfoliating procedure is done. Researchers at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor treated people with a diamond microdermabrasion machine on a coarse-grit or medium-grit setting. Only the more abrasive action induced a wound-healing response and increased collagen production. The molecular changes were less dramatic than the effect of carbon-dioxide laser resurfacing, but more dramatic than that of nonablative lasers, says Darius J. Karimipour, assistant professor of dermatology. At-home microdermabrasion kits can soften and smooth the skin, but "probably don't have the oomph" to address acne scars and wrinkles, he says.'
