If you spent the last bank holiday weekend over indulging in late nights, heavy food and an abundance of alcohol, get ready to invest in your time bank of healthy exercise and pampering for the next long weekend! Having some ‘me time’ doesn’t need to empty out your actual bank account and can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Here are some of the simple but indulgent things I suggest to friends, family and clients alike to gain the most from a long weekend.

Walk your way to healthy and great skin!

Start of your bank holiday with a serene walk to unwind from the stresses of work. Whether you’re lucky enough to live by the sea, countryside or simply take a stroll with your dog in the local park, this is a simple pleasure we can all indulge in. Alone or with the company of a loved one a brisk walk is great for your skin as well as your health. Remember not to forget applying our Super Charged SPF15 Day Cream to protect your skin before you head out.

Give tea the GREEN light

As I’ve mentioned in a previous blog entry (link to Green Tea Blog), Green Tea has countless benefits for the skin from anti-inflammatory properties to preventing skin cancer. If you’ve never tried Green Tea this weekend is the perfect time to get into a routine of drinking at least a cup a day. The taste isn’t for everyone so to ease you in, try a green tea infused with lemon or mint. If you’re already a fan, get in as many cups in as you can!

Gel marks the spot

Spots are a problem we all deal with at some point in our lives. Anything from stress to dirt can cause these pesky pimples to flare up but with a busy work week and social calendar, taking some time out to tackle them is the last thing we can squeeze into our schedules. But over a bank holiday there is no excuse! First be sure to cleanse your face and then apply our Spot Gel to the affected areas thorough the day and before the bank holiday is over you’ll notice clearer skin. I’d also recommend trying to remain makeup free for the whole weekend to give your skin a chance to breathe!

Bathe away work week blues

A fabulous way to unwind is with a warm (not hot!) bath before you head to bed. Light some candles, play some soft music and grab your favourite book for some classic ‘me time’. An absolute must is to switch off your phone during this time and before you know it, you’ll drift away into blissful relaxation. To soothe and nourish your skin apply a moisturising body wash and be sure to avoid soap at all costs as it dries out skin. To invigorate skin, use my Cooling Menthol Facial Scrub before you get out of the bath to remove any dirt and feel refreshed.

A helping hand

Neglected hands are the number one culprit for showing the signs of aging and many of us are guilty of it. A great tip is to apply a thick layer of my Double Duty Hand Cream and then slip on a pair of cotton gloves (pretty inexpensive and readily available at most beauty departments and pharmacies) right before you go to bed. The cream will penetrate hands even more deeply with the gloves retaining heat you will wake up to hands so youthful you might not even think they’re yours!

Catch up on your kip

One thing I can suggest for your bank holiday that we can all agree on is sleep, sleep and more sleep! Your body uses the time you’re dreaming to repair itself, inside and out. A good night’s sleep can make the world of difference to your health, mind and skin but it’s something most of us don’t do.
