Six months to go

Your first phone call announcing the news of your engagement, after your mother, should be to your dermatologist. Just like dress fittings brides need to include products and treatments as part of the routine and budget for the day.

The light at the end of many a problem-skin tunnel is IPL. If you are prone to stress related acne, you can bet it will rear its ugly head the day before you get married. Don’t let spots be your something new! Here at the Cranley Clinic we have an arsenal of treatments, including our acne protocol, to get your skin under control.

Three months to go

Now is the time to wed yourself to skin rejuvenating treatments, such as Microdermabrasion, Dermasweep and Peels.

These treatments improve the skin by removing the top dead layer of skin, helping to improve dull lacklustre skin. They also help to unblock clogged pores which can help reduce acne formation. Peels and Microdermabrasion stimulate the production of collagen and elastin and speed up the cell renewal process.

But please, do not try this at home. I am concerned about individuals doing treatments, such as over the counter peels, at home. Although some skin types may tolerate the peel, others may react too strongly. It is impossible, or difficult to say the least, for the individual to know how they’ll react. This is why I am generally against home peels. I am, however, in favour of gentle exfoliation using facial scrubs. Ideally they should be used once-twice a week, three-four days apart. My Cooling Menthol Facial Scrub contains lactic and ferulic acids, as well as excellent botanical antioxidants, such as raspberry and pomegranate extracts.

When it comes to your wedding dress you’re often faced with the naked truth about your body. No matter your body shape, diet or exercise plan, over time it becomes harder to lose certain pockets of fat. Book in with the Cranley Clinic for CoolSculpting, a non-invasive treatment that reduces fat in localised targeted areas. During the treatment the fat cells crystalize, break down and are then naturally flushed from the body over the next few months. You may see results after a few weeks and maximum results are seen up to three months after treatment.

Two months to go

You want your true emotions to shine through on the big day, but I bet you wouldn’t say no to looking a little younger either. If you decide to get Botox do it at least two months before your wedding. And remember it doesn’t work overnight. It can take between three days and up to two weeks to see the best results. If you bruise easily you should allow at least two weeks to make sure everything has settled down and check your muscles have had time to respond to the treatment.
