Platelet Rich Plasma - hair loss and skin rejuvenation

Platelets are cells in your blood that are thought to help healing and also contain proteins called growth factors, which have been suggested as improving collagen, blood supply, wound healing and increased hair thickness.

PRP Skin Rejuvenation:

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) can be used to assist in skin rejuvenation on the face, neck and upper chest.  It can be used to further improve wrinkling, sun damage and acne scarring that is being treated with lasers, fillers and radiofrequency.

Your skin texture will respond as the new cells grow and visible results may take several weeks to appear and continue for up to six months.  Responses will vary in time and degree depending on your overall health, age, diet, smoking history and whether your weight is stable.

PRP and hair growth:

PRP can also be used to treat some types of scalp hair loss and thinning hair.

Why use your own Platelets:

Hair loss in men and women begins with hair becoming smaller, called miniturisation. The hair on your head looks thinner and your hair loss gradually worses. PRP has been proven scientifically to thicken these small hairs and prevent loss leading hair restoration thickening.

When platelets are activated in the body they produce proteins called growth factors.  It is these growth factors that are thought to be able to help regenerate new tissue improving blood supply and wound healing.

What happens during your treatment?

A small sample of your blood is processed in a specialised system designed to extract your platelets in a safe clinical manner.  These platelets are then harvested into syringes and injected into the area you wish to be treated.

PRP is from your own blood, known as autologous.  As you are using your own tissue to repair and improve your skin tissue, it will not not cause you any allergic reaction or other risks.

You will usually need between three to six treatment sessions to achieve optimum results.
