DR NICK LOWE SPEAKS OUT ANTI-AGEING CREAMS CANCER RISK

Dr Nick Lowe, Britain's leading dermatologist and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCLA School of Medicine, in Los Angeles,  speaks out on today's report issued from American group, 'the Cancer Prevention Coalition' that anti-ageing creams containing AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids) increase the risk of cancer.

"There is indeed some truth in this report that products containing AHA's and glycolic acids can lead to sun damage, the reason for this is AHA's ""brighten the skin" by reducing the thickness of the stratum corneum, increasing the penetration of sunlight causing epidermal damage and sunburn to the cells in the epidermis (outer skin). "

"If you currently use a skincare product that contains AHA's, my advice would be to reduce or stop use and choose products with alternative protective and brightening ingredients such as anti-oxidant combinations, Niacinamide, peptides and humectants. My skincare philosophy is not to produce skin changes with AHA's but with the above ingredients which can be found in my 'Secret Is Out Lifting Cream with SPF 15 and UVA' and 'Skin Radiance Brightening Cream'."
