Stress Awareness Month

Wednesday, 11 April 2018 16:07:25 Europe/London

Stress Awareness Month takes place every April and has since it first launched in 1992. Everyone is affected by stress from time-to-time putting strain on our physical and mental health. Although not all stress is bad, long-term stress can harm your health and affect your whole body including your skin, nails and hair.

Common signs of stress include digestive symptoms, headaches, sleeplessness, spots, worry lines, sadness, and irritability.

There are ways to help.

For instance, just 30 minutes of exercise will boost your mood and reduce your stress levels. Or try a relaxing activity and meditation which will reduce your stress levels, improve concentration and increase self-awareness.

There are meditation apps available.

Research has shown that stress can cause premature wrinkles which will not help your anti-ageing routine. Help is at hand at the Cranley Clinic where our philosophy is a rested, youthful but natural look using Botox to reduce crow’s feet, lift the brow and reduce fine wrinkles.

Stress can cause your body to make hormones which triggers oil glands in your skin to produce more oil which, in turn, is more prone to acne. The Dr Nick Lowe acclenz™ range has been expertly formulated with a blend of powerful ingredients and skin soothing botanical extracts designed to calm skin. The Advanced Action Spot Gel helps to minimise the appearance of blemishes and maintain clear skin.

Eczema, psoriasis and some types of hair loss are made worse during and after stressful times. The good news is that we have many treatment options in addition to the all important stress reduction.

Try a combined approach to de-stress including relaxation, meditation, exercise and walking.

Intoducing Volite

Thursday, 22 March 2018 11:01:03 Europe/London

If you want to improve your skin quality, particularly around the upper lip and chin, neck and décolletage or hands, this new treatment could be the one for you.

Volite is a minimally invasive injectable treatment which deliveries hyaluronic acid (HA) directly to the skin to improve four key problems:

  • Crepiness – by plumping and hydrating crepey skin that appears saggy, due to lack of tone and moisture
  • Dryness – by hydrating dry skin that appears flaky, irritated and dehydrated, and feels rough and scaly to the touch
  • Roughness – by reducing roughness in the skin
  • Skin Depression – by smoothing out depression in the skin

HA has been used for many years as a filler for lines and wrinkles, and is a naturally occurring substance in the skin. Volite is much thinner than other fillers. It is injected superficially using tiny needles and is designed to last for six months.
